GLOW UP
I describe this series as conversations with my grown up self. You’ll find bold colour and playful marks on large statement canvases. A collection with inspiration stemmed from my love of interpreting the sea but with overtones of my own feelings and journey. With titles such as Cold-water Superpowers and To all the lost conversations, I wanted to explore things that bring me joy, confidence but also challenging my own mind through these paintings - all in the aid of glowing up.

I have loved this piece from the start, there's lots going on yet there is a simplicity to its form. I've looked upon this piece as my mind, there's jumbles of energy and thoughts. My memory isn't always the best and I am introverted so this piece is a dedication to all the conversations I've forgotton or not had because I've been to shy. But there's colour and confidence here - accepting that that's who I am and that's okay.

My thank you to the sea, for being my inspiration and the energy that gives me the drive and powers to push to succeed and live.

Travel and big holidays, these are the times to find yourself, have the big deep and meaningful chats, right? Sometimes yes but sometimes it's just nice to go and have zero expectations of a life changing experience. And we didn't do much talking is my homage to sitting by the pool, cocktail in hand and doing just that, without care and without expectation of what should or shouldn't be. Oh gees I would love a holiday right now (and by that I mean an adult only, warm weather, drinking and eating holiday!)

What's holding you back, what could you really achieve, what are you doing because out of fear of the unknown? I in no way have the answers but being a self employed artist has certainly made me challenge these thoughts in my head. In this piece in my head at least, I'm standing on the rocks looking into a pool of water reminding myself my freedom lies just beneath that surface.

We get the most beautiful sunsets out of the back of our garden - Dan is always the first to spot them. But the height of their beauty doesn't last long, so upon seeing a glimpse of a potential cracker he'll shout at me to come see! We then have approximately 8 seconds left to peg it to the end of the garden to see it over the fields. Reminding me of the transient nature of beauty and to appreciate every small detail whilst its there.t beautiful sunsets out of the back of our garden - Dan is always the first to spot them. It's a big world out there and as I reflect on the past mere 5 years my life has changed so much. I wanted so much to have a creative career but couldn't see how I could do this where I was at that time. But things flipped and for all the trouble it caused something beautiful has come out of it. I'm so excited for the next 5years and have no idea where they'll take me, but one thing for certain is I'm never saying never again.

This piece started out with a classic horizon line and bored me beyond belief. I flipped it, painted over the things I liked and turned its on its head. Now it's a melting pot of flipped ideas and a reminder that if it bores me, not to fear it and to trust my instincts.
SOLD - The Afterparty
Whilst my open studio and gallery shows were on - I painted. Sat around my new collection I was inspired by what glowed around me. This is "the afterparty" the late comer to Glow Up but some would say maybe the best bit.
